Power Rankings: Week 3

And just like that, the 2021 season is well underway.

The way I see it, one team has separated themselves from the pack. Some squads certainly have stronger outlooks than others, but no one is dead in the water just yet.

Let’s get started…

  1. Z-Unit (3-0)

    Last Week: 1st

UN-DE-FEAT-ED. Clap, clap, clap clap clap. Hat’s off to Big Z! Middle of the pack in total points scored, so the wins haven’t been coming with a lit-up scoreboard, but the dubs are flowing nonetheless. The only noticeable hole on the roster is at TE, but the same can be said about most other teams in the league. Adam Thielen and Brandin Cooks have been pleasant surprises, and the bench is plenty deep to fill-in for upcoming BYE weeks. Stay up, son!

  2. Serup In My Kupp (2-1)

    Last Week: 6th

I told you you’d be #1 after a Week 3 win. Turns out, I lied. But let me make it up to you. @TheLeague, this is now the team to beat. Don’t get it twisted. 3rd in points scored, with upside that should leave the rest of us trembling. The jury is still out on Trey Sermon’s role in San Francisco, but Aiyuk and Kyle Pitts are primed for bigger roles as the season rolls along. The keg is tapped, and the Kupp is filled to the brim, folks.

  3. Tony Brown Town (2-1)

    Last Week: 4th

Go off, son! Even without the coveted “Mr. Frozen Foot” himself, the squad still managed to post a whopping 155 point output. Josh Allen finally got his rocks off on Sunday, Mike Dub is living up to the preseason Michael Thomas comparisons, and frankly the entirety of the lineup continues to post quality numbers. Of course, it always helps when Alexander Mattison fills in for Dalvin. It’ll be awfully interesting to see what this roster looks like with Can’t Guard Mike in the FLEX. Hey everyone! Case is relevant!!!

  4. Peeping Toms (2-1)

    Last Week: 3rd

Three straight 130 point weeks should equate to a 3-0 start, but that’s how it do be sometimes. The highest scoring team in the league has the NFL’s two leading rushers, and four quality wideouts with safe floors and considerable upside. WR depth is slightly concerning behind the starting unit, but there’s more than enough bench tailback depth to go around. If the stars keep gunning and Herby keeps throwing darts, Project Tommy Two-Rings should be in dandy shape.

  5. A Stainers (2-1)

    Last Week: 9th
That late-round Chubba Hubbard investment was certainly a shrewd pick. Even if it’s a short-term return, it’s still exciting to slot in an RB2 at virtually no-cost. Zeke finally quieted some of those Tony Pollard anxieties, and Patty Mahomes is still the best in the biz even if he does own a sub .500 record for the first time in his career. There are stronger WR units out there (especially with a dinged up Tee Higgins), but the RB room is stronger than ever. I don’t think we’ve seen the Stainers’ ceiling yet.

  6. Tua Tagovailoa (2-1)

    Last Week: 8th

The AJ Brown hammy injury is majorly bunk, especially with Jerry Jeudy icing up on the IR. But hey, let’s look on the bright side. The Ja’Marr Chase-Joe Burrow connection is in full swing, Chubb and Montgomery are the focal points of their respective offenses, and Dak is looking sharper than a switchblade. The bench is thinner than a bulimic cheerleader, but the starting unit is one that should be taken seriously.

  7. Hammered Uncle Hanks (1-2)

    Last Week: 3rd

I’ve been there pal. Losing CMC is a tough break, but the season is young and hopefully he’ll be back by November. He’s someone who’s impossible to replace, but there are plenty of positives to take away from Week 3. CEH and JRob finally showed up, and Zack Moss might be a serviceable FLEX. All eyes will be on the WR crew these next few weeks -  without McCaffery, Juice, and perhaps even Sterling Shephard - someone else is gonna have to pick up the slack. Let’s see what Hen can drum up to stop the bleeding.

  8. Amar(w)i Gonna Win? (0-3)

    Last Week: 7th

DON’T. PANIC. When healthy, it’s a deep RB room with what I still believe is the premier WR trio in our league. Hell, even Henry Ruggs is starting to put up quality numbers. In fact, this lineup has more points scored than the current #1 seed. There are plenty of pieces in place to start winning games, with more than enough ammunition for a patented Canty Trade. Ain’t bad luck a b*tch though?

  9. Hop On This Dick (1-2)

    Last Week: 5th

Ahhhhhhh, there’s the Saquon we know and love. But even with the resurrection of #26, the RB depth is becoming a pressing emergency. I’ll admit, “JAMAL WILLIAMS” is far better than I expected, but there’s a whole lotta zilch behind him. To make up for it, Hop Lockett Drop-It are really gonna have to start cooking with gas. Not to mention, ARob is gonna need to put the deplorable Bears offense on his back. It might be time to start wheelin’ and dealin’!

  10. The Steamers (1-2)

    Last Week: 10th

Tough loss, but not a bad showing from The Steamers. With that said, JT really needs to get things going if playoff aspirations are on the table. The season is young, and the sophomore star really took off in the second half last season - so there’s still room for hope. The same can be said about The People’s TE, who hasn’t lived up to expectations having not yet found paydirt. There’s a big matchup on deck, against a rival 1-2 squad coming off a two-game skid.

  11. Hard Woods (1-2)

    Last Week: 12th
Let’s retire the CLB nickname (for now). Afterall, Chic-Fil-A got his first dub in Week 3. Did Tom just call Kyle Chic-Fil-A? I did, because he’s always closed on Sunday. Laughs aside, the lowest scoring team in the league has some notable concerns. Robert Woods has been more of a WR3 rather than the WR1 he was drafted to be. To make matters worse, Corey Davis and Robbie Anderson have been duds since the season opener. Thankfully, OBJ looked good in his return, and Najee is coming into form. Up next? An 0-3 squad desperate to get the monkey off their back.

  12. Killing Me Swiftly (0-3)

    Last Week: 9th

The name is somewhat ironic after a painful 0-3 start. Dalvin Cook’s absence was unexpected, and Calvin Ridley’s volume hasn’t equated to WR1 status just yet. There’s plenty of depth and star-power to turn things around, but 1-3 sounds a hell of a lot better than 0-4. It’s not a “must-win” matchup, but it’s pretty darn close. It may be time to lay off the wedding planning, and invest more time into fantasy football!!! You’re better than this!!!
