Power Rankings: Week 4
Thank you, Kyle! I really appreciate you filling in for me last week. Lots of positive feedback from the boys.
But don’t worry. Daddy is back, and dinner is ready. Set the table, kids.
Kyle (3-1)
Last Week: 1st
Bad week, nice win! Kamara is playing like it’s 2018, and Jayden Reed looks like an elite play with Jordan Love under center again. I’m not stressing about Kyler or Breece, they’ll be fine. Same goes for Coop and Deebo. Credit goes to Mr. Harwood for constructing a deep lineup. It’s a good problem to have when you’re deciding between the likes of Brian Thomas Jr. and three other studs at WR. Kyle has waited a long time for this moment; his team is healthy and relevant!!!
Henry (3-1)
Last Week: 2nd
This is a playoff roster - I stand by that belief. But the share price is starting to waver a little bit. The three headed RB trio I highlighted two weeks ago is shaky all of a sudden. JT suffered a “mild” high ankle sprain on Sunday, and Rachaad White has been cannabalized by Henry’s fellow Oregon Duck. On the flip side, Saquon is the only thing working Philly rn, and Nick Chubb is likely to return within the next 3 weeks. Hank has some valuable chips to deal. Let’s see if he’s willing to make a patented Fassinger blockbuster move.
Pete (3-1)
Last Week: 6th
Bunk week for a good team. Albeit, a good team with some question marks. We know what Josh Allen, Aaron Jones, Chris Godwin, and Bijan can do. They’re locked in studs. And hey - Michael Pittman’s value might be temporarily restored with Ole Man Flacco taking the reins. But this bench? Took a spill out of the ugly tree and hit every tree and hit every branch on the way down. BYE weeks may be tough to navigate when the time comes, but 3-1 is a fun start!
Austin (3-1)
Last Week: 8th
Hey! Stainer beat an opponent that scored triple digits! You know what they say - it’s better to be lucky than good. This team happens to be both. We were all foolish to discount Jettas as a mid-first round pick. He’s not a JAG. He is HIM. Kyren is a volume beast and TD machine, and Diontae Johnson is a weapon once more now that the Red Rifle is firing. Depth is booboo, but when Joe Mixon is back this will be one of the premier lineups in GLOAT.
Tom (2-2)
Last Week: 3rd
Move over, Deebo. Nico Collins is my new favorite player <3 <3 <3. With Conner, Mason, CeeDee, and Stroud putting in work themselves - this team has some serious oomph. I’ll go out on a limb and claim that this is the deepest roster out there, with 3 or 4 quality starters riding the pine. But man. Like an unfaithful Catholic, Aiyuk hasn’t been showing up on Sundays! Come back, and repent for your sins.
UPDATE: Farewell BA. Farewell Mondre. Farewell tripled distilled Irish whiskey. Hello Jahmyr & Keenan! This acquisition comes at a serious cost to lineup depth, but toting three RB1s and two WR1s is straight spooky. Boo!
Brad (3-1)
Last Week: 4th
I’ve come to the conclusion that is a weird team. Lamar, King Henry, Malik? Very good! Garrett Wilson, Kyle Armpits, and…..Jonathan Mingo (sure)? Well, that’s less good. Until Matthew Stafford’s best friend returns to action, this is roster is shallower than Rachel McAdam’s character in Mean Girls. Until then, the Baltimore duo & WRU’s latest graduate will need to carry the load.
Ryan (2-2)
Last Week: 5th
Man, Tua’s head injury messed up so many rosters. Tyreek Hill enters Week 5 has the WR28, having yet to top 10.0 points since Skylar Thompson and Tyler Huntley started taking snaps. The good news is that Jordan Addison and Christian Kirk both looked sharp. It’s also worth noting that while this RB room has zero sex appeal, there’s no such thing as style points in fantasy football! How long will it take for Ryan to punt Mark Andrews to the waiver wire?
UPDATE: Ryan clearly enough with the Mark Andrews experiment! The price tag was heavy, but you have to feel good about buying three ascending players in Kelce, Terry, & Downs. It’s certainly not as sexy as it was in 2019, but the Travis Kelce / Patty Mahomes stack could be awfully annoying.
Case (2-2)
Last Week: 12th
Okay, okay, okay! We all thought Gumby was dead in the water, but Jayden Daniels looks like a viable life raft. Correction; this dude is a yacht. Like the super yacht in Succession. He’s obviously the QB1, and I’m not sure if there’s anyone else you’d prefer to start over him. He’s also resurrected Scary Terry’s value after a scary start. We all know that DK is an alpha, Chuba has been an RB1, and look at Travis Kelce! Back like he never left! He still needs help, but Case is alive and well.
UPDATE: Blockbuster alert! Case flipped the two players he acquired from Cole earlier in the year and brought in an RB1/2 and a potential WR1. I actually like the trade for both teams - though Case certainly inherits the risk of Davante nursing his “injured hammy” which will miraculously heal itself when he finds himself playing for the Jets in a week or two.
Chet & Mike (2-2)
Last Week: 9th
Chet - are you reading this? Press “Y” to confirm.
Welcome to your new home here at #9. Do you like it? Spacious one-bedroom, with plenty of natural light. It appears that the Steele Gator experiment is over, but Kareem Hunt might be a thing? Maybe y’all should pick up CEH, that way you have the entirety of the Chiefs RB room. This was a big win for a shorthanded roster, especially with Devonta & TP on BYE in Week 5. It’s nice to see Chase & London get involved, though all eyes will be on Xavier Worthy following the Rice injury.
Bacich (1-3)
Last Week: 10th
Big time win, because an 0-4 start would be a mighty big pill to swallow. Like swallowing a cotton ball covered in sawdust without a glass of water. When Puka is back, this will be a stellar WR quartet. In fact, it’s not even bad now! JSN and Darnell Mooney have been serviceable options lately. It’s the RB room that presents a problem. BRob is a stud, but Raheem can’t stay on the field, and who knows how much more gas Ford has in the tank now that Chubb is loosening up.
Devon (0-4)
Last Week: 7th
At full health, this is a dangerous group. But at 0-4, they’re on the ropes. Canty was already missing Tank Dell & Evan Engram, but the loss of Rashee feels monumental. Not only are the injuries piling up, but the offensive woes in South Beach are severely hindering Achane’s contributions. It’s time to merge over into the carpool lane, and see how far Maserati Marv can drive these boys.
UPDATE: Shooters shoot! With Gibbs on BYE, this GM couldn’t afford an 0-5 start. Selling Gibbs hurts, but receiving two underperforming yet high upside starters provides for a much improved lineup in Week 5.
Cole (0-4)
Last Week: 11th
No bueno. Week 4 delivered the team’s first triple digit output, but it wasn’t quite enough. 0.65pts short to be exact. Injuries and bad fortune are to blame, but it could also be an issue with team culture. It’s toxic in that clubhouse. I don’t want to be hyperbolic, but Week 5 feels like a need-to-have. Ryan awaits, with an opportunity to dig an even deeper hole.
